The depot that never left
The Whistlestop sits at 5503 Main Street in Ooltewah, Tennessee — a brick building where trains still rumble past during lunch. Built as a tribute to the original depot that once anchored this community, the railroad heritage isn't wallpaper; it's the whole point.
Art with a real story behind it
The walls display original pen-and-ink locomotive illustrations by John F. Gould — loaned by his son Robert, an Ooltewah resident. A donated print also honors Henry Long, a Southern Railway foreman whose track ran right past this very building.
New owners, same heart
KAS Ventures — Kemp and Alva Johnson of Collegedale — took over with one goal: build on what people love while making the menu more welcoming for everyone. "We want this to be a place for laughter, shared memories, and unforgettable food."
Food That's Worth the Drive
The Chattanooga Times Free Press called it "the best of America, slathered in pimento cheese and served on marbled rye." Milkshakes and ice cream creations are a destination in their own right — portions generous, comfort food honest.
